Okay..What the verse means is that;
First of all a Disciple is some one who is disciplined. When Jesus said take up your cross he was addressing it to all who follow him and love him.
Secondly The verse says deny yourself meaning you should deny the things you like e.g Clubing, Smoking , having sex before marriage and other desires you have.
Thirdly its says take up your cross. The cross symbolizes shame because when Jesus took the cross its was shameful and embarrassing. Its also symbolizes Obedience and Suffering. This is all for Jesus. Since i have taken up my cross people have been saying things about me that are not nice but i dont mind because am here to please GOD not men.
lastly the verse says Follow me. Follow Jesus whist you suffering for him. He will guide you and will comfort you. As well follow his instructions.
